作者简介：

莱因霍尔德·尼布尔（Reinhold Niebuhr，1892-1971年），美国当代最伟大的政治哲学家、思想家以及公共知识分子，毕业于耶鲁大学。1964 年，尼布尔被授予“杰出贡献总统自由勋章”。卡特、克林顿等美国前总统都喜欢把尼布尔的著作当作其“政治圣经”在讲话中引用，前美国总统奥巴马也称自己受其影响。2017年，美国公共广播公司称其为“美国的良心”。

著作有《道德的人和不道德的社会》、《人的本性与命运》（被Modern library列为二十世纪最重要的二十本非虚构类图书之一）、《光明之子与黑暗之子》（北京大学出版社，2011年）等。

译者简介：

方永，武汉大学哲学学院副教授，哲学博士。主要研究领域为伦理学原理、伦理思想史、宗教伦理学。
