伊利诺伊大学心理系荣誉退休教授，科罗拉多大学心理系兼职教授，科罗拉多州博尔德市阿里昂科技公司（AlionSciences Company）高级研究员。30年来，他在伊利诺伊大学讲授工程和实验心理学、人因工程和航空心理学课程，指导了38位博士，并担任航空心理学/人因学领域的学科带头人长达20年。曾因其出色的本科教学获得心理学国际荣誉学会奖（Psi-Chi award），因在人因学专业人才培训方面的杰出贡献获得美国人因工程学会颁发的保罗•费茨奖（Paul M Fitts award）。他还获得过美国联邦航空管理局颁发的航空领域年度卓越研究奖。他是美国人因工程学会会员，主要研究方向是注意理论在人因工程中的应用，以及人的操作行为的建模。最后一点，他还是一位狂热的登山爱好者。
