A.爱德华·纽顿(1864－1940)，美国藏书家和书话作家。余暇以阅读、藏书自娱。屡次造访伦敦，多为购置心仪的古籍、手稿。 1918年，散文集《藏书之乐》问世，不但立即畅销，并成为同类著作之经典。此后他继续发表许多与藏书有关的文章并一一结集出版，广受读者欢迎。

杨传纬，英语教授，1952年毕业于北京大学。1984—1989年曾任北京师范学院（首都师范大学前身）院长。1987年获美国纽约州立大学名誉博士学位。译著有：《教授与疯子》、《OED的故事》、《夜晚的书斋》、《书趣》、《闲话大小事》、《旧书重温忆华年》、《坚韧刚毅》等。
