作者简介欧内斯特·斯科特，澳大利亚历史学家，墨尔本大学教授，澳大利亚现代史学的重要奠基人之一，被誉为“澳大利亚史学之父”。他主攻澳大利亚史，将澳大利亚史写得活灵活现。他重视原始史料，但不盲信。欧内斯特·斯科特去世后，他的妻子埃米莉·斯科特向墨尔本大学捐献巨资，建立了“欧内斯特·斯科特历史奖”，奖励那些对澳大利亚史或新西兰史研究做出重要贡献的学者。
