作者简介马里奥·巴尔加斯·略萨（Mario Vargas Llosa），著名作家，世界小说大师，被誉为“结构现实主义大师”和拉美“文学大爆炸”主将之一。
1936年3月28日生于秘鲁第二大城市阿列基帕。早在出生前父母即已离异，出生后一年随母去玻利维亚的柯恰潘帕，与外祖父住在一起。1945年其父母重归于好，他随母返回秘鲁，在皮乌拉定居。1946年全家迁居利马。1957年他毕业于利马圣马可大学文学系，1959年到法国深造。
略萨的第一部小说获得1962年简明丛书奖和1963年西班牙文学批评奖。1965年他的第二部小说《绿房子》问世，并获得西班牙文学批评奖和首届罗慕洛·加列戈斯国际小说奖（1972年马尔克斯以《百年孤独》成为第二位得主）。又发表了小说《酒吧长谈》、《潘达雷昂上尉与劳军女郎》、《胡利亚姨妈与作家》、《世界末日之战》、《公羊的节日》、《天堂在另一个街角...
